Resilient Homes and Neighborhoods Ride

Sep 24, 2022 , 10:00 am 1:00 pm

This will be a guided bike tour that highlights homes in the Kulshan Community Land Trust and ends at their newest development project that will be built with climate resilience in mind. At the end location, the climate resilient features of the homes will be presented and discussed by either the architect or representative board member. Resilient, permanently affordable homes in our urban core promote climate action not only by consuming fewer resources, but by allowing occupants to access amenities by foot, bike, or public transportation.

This ride begins at Harriet Spanel Park and follows a safe route through the York, Sunnyland, Lettered Streets, Columbia, and Birchwood neighborhoods. Along the way, up to three KCLT homeowners will share their story of being a KCLT homeowner. One home on the tour that will be highlighted is International Living Future Institute Petal Certified Net Zero. The homes at the Birchwood site will use elements of the International Living Future Institute’s Living Building Challenge, and those elements will be highlighted at the final stop on the bike tour.

Ride begins at Harriet Spanel Park
