State of the Solar System Art Installation Celebration
September 28 , 11:00 am – 11:59 pm
Sun sculpture on N State St. right before the roundaboutMap
Event Details: Last year, a scaled model of our solar system was installed on N State Street in Bellingham, which was made possible by funding from Sustainable Connections and the City of Bellingham. Unfortunately, the planet marbles were taken from the State of the Solar System art installation. Since then, three of the planets have been adopted by members of the community which has helped to fund the replacements and re-installation.
In conjunction with the the end of the City of Bellingham’s ALL IN for Climate Action Week, there will be a short celebration of the re-launch of the State of the Solar System and the people who helped make this happen on Saturday, Sept. 28. We will gather at 11am at the yellow Sun sculpture, which is on N State Street right before the roundabout that is at the junction of N State Street, N Forest Street, Boulevard, and Wharf Street. Those who are interested can walk the Solar System after the celebration, which is a 1.5-mile walk on N State Street.
