Join Whatcom Million Trees Project (WMTP), Pickford Film Center and multiple local co-sponsors for an in-person showing of the film The Hidden Life of Trees, a new documentary based on Peter Wohlleben’s bestselling book of the same name.

In-person showings at the Pickford will be on Wednesday, September 22 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, September 25 at 12 p.m. Tickets for in-person showings are $5 per person and can be purchased on the Pickford’s website. Each in-person showing will be followed with a Q&A session with the WMTP Executive Director Michael Feerer and Board Member David Roberts. Please note that COVID-19 safety protocols are in place for visiting the Pickford. Seating capacity has been reduced and patrons are required to wear masks and provide proof of vaccination.

Virtual streaming at home will also be available for $12 for those who do not wish to attend the showing in person. The link sent to purchasers will be active for viewing the film anytime from 12 a.m. on September 20 to 11:59 p.m. on September 26, giving people flexibility when to watch. The film will be available to rent on Vimeo starting at 12 a.m. on September 20.

All proceeds from live and virtual showings will benefit the Whatcom Million Trees Project nonprofit.

Based on his bestselling book The Hidden Life of Trees, renowned forester and writer Peter Wohlleben guides viewers through his enlightened ecological insights with matter-of-fact candor — so everyone can see the forest for the trees. Traveling through Germany, Poland, Sweden and Vancouver, Peter discusses the amazing processes of life, death, and regeneration he has observed in woodlands, and the amazing scientific mechanisms behind these wonders of which we are often blissfully unaware. A walk in the forest will never be the same again!
