Join the Bellingham Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management, and the Whatcom Conservation District for a virtual education event about wildfire risk reduction steps that can make your home safer during a wildfire.
Climate change has been a key factor in increasing the risk and extent of wildfires in the Western U.S. Wildfire risk depends on a number of factors including temperature, soil moisture, the presence of trees, shrubs and other potential fuel. Climate change enhances the drying of organic matter and increases warmer, drier conditions, creating longer fire seasons and increasing wildfire risk. Understanding how to reduce that risk around your home can reduce the impacts of wildfire.
Please register for this free event. You will receive an email with a Zoom link for the meeting after registering.
