SUMMARY:A HOPE PROJECT
DESCRIPTION:A Hope Project was created by three teens. It is a public art installation that tells a progressive story on yard signs illustrating hope and some actions we can each take to protect planet Earth. The signs are on Lynn Street between Eldridge Ave. and Northwest Ave and will be for approximately six months. The naming of A HOPE PROJECT\, the logo and the images were all made by Sylvia\, Lilly and Raya. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA HOPE PROJECT presents ideas to protect planet Earth. You too can write your ideas or draw a picture of an invention that you think will help to fix the climate crises. Put those ideas & inventions on a postcard and mail it to someone important to you. A grandmother. An uncle. Or a senator! We’ve got postage stamps and a mailbox! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nSigns will be posted on the length of Lynn Street between Eldridge Ave and Northwest Ave (corner of Yeager’s). \n\n\n\nContact\n\n\n\nFrom A Child’s Point of ViewEmail: fromchildspointofview@gmail.com \n\n\n\nPrize Drawing/Event Feedback\n\n\n\nReceive a prize drawing entry for up to five events you attend during Climate Action Week! Three prize drawing winners will be selected to choose between a solar backpack\, waterproof bike bag\, energy efficiency kit\, or zero waste shopping kit.  \n\n\n\nFor each entry\, you must submit a brief online feedback form for the event you attended and include a unique codeword for that event. SUMMARY:Become a Neighborhood Tree Ambassador (Work Party)
DESCRIPTION:During this fun\, hands-on work party at Whatcom Falls Park\, Whatcom Million Trees Project will show you how to directly build local climate resilience by protecting mature trees in your neighborhood from a tree-killing invasive — English ivy! You can attend one or both of the following events: \n\n\n\nVirtual Webinar/Q&A\n\n\n\nMonday\, September 19\, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nDuring the Sept. 19\, 6:30 p.m. Zoom session\, you’ll learn how to… \n\n\n\nfind the most climate-significant trees in your neighborhood\,recognize and safely\, easily remove silent-killer English ivy from neighborhood tree trunks on private or public property\,organize small neighborhood teams to remove such invasives;become a tree ivy “spotter” and advocate for your neighborhood;find the correct COB tree rules for your property or neighborhood\,report unauthorized tree removals — ideally before they occur\,advocate for stronger big urban tree protections\, and more.\n\n\n\nFollow-up Fun Work Party at Whatcom Falls Park\n\n\n\nSunday\, September 25\, 9 a.m. to noon \n\n\n\nOur free follow-up work party at Whatcom Falls Park on Sunday\, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon will be hands-on to remove English ivy from trees — without special tools\, skills\, or tree-climbing required. You’ll also learn how to compost the ivy successfully on-site so there are no disposal bottlenecks. Our maximum work party size is 25 attendees\, so please sign up now on the Whatcom Millions Trees Project website. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe hope our Climate Action Week event will raise awareness about how Bellingham’s large\, mature trees are an integral part of needed climate action in our community. Technology and energy system changes alone won’t solve the problem. Responding to climate change means not only reducing our carbon emissions\, but capturing what’s already increasingly in the atmosphere. Trees play a major role in the latter and enhance our climate resilience to floods\, heat waves\, etc. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing and sharing with you — for the trees! \n\n\n\nPlease RSVP for either of these events on the Whatcom Million Trees Project website. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nSept. 19 Webinar: Hosted virtually on Zoom. Please RSVP to receive the Zoom link. \n\n\n\nSept. 25 Work Party: Whatcom Falls Park1401 Electric Ave Bellingham\, WA 98229 \n\n\n\nContact\n\n\n\nWhatcom Million Trees ProjectEmail: info@whatcommilliontrees.orgPhone: (360) 319-1370 \n\n\n\nPrize Drawing/Event Feedback\n\n\n\nReceive a prize drawing entry for up to five events you attend during Climate Action Week!
