SUMMARY:Earth Day Recycling Event
DESCRIPTION:Clear your clutter and reduce your environmental impact for Earth Day! The City of Bellingham is partnering with Sanitary Service Company (SSC)\, Recycling & Disposal Services Inc. (RDS)\, 1PC\, Bellingham Covenant Church\, and Whatcom County Health and Community Services to host a free recycling event. Stop by the parking lot of Bellingham Covenant Church any time between noon and 3 p.m. to drop off your hard-to-recycle items for donation and recycling.  \n\n\n\nWhat to bring:  \n\n\n\n\nUp to three grocery bags (or 2 banker boxes) of sensitive documents to be shredded in SSC’s shredder truck at the event and then recycled. No need to remove staples\, paper clips\, or notebook spirals. Ringed binders\, CDs\, and DVDs can not be shredded. (Shredded paper can’t typically be recycled through residential recycling services in Bellingham).\n\n\n\nOld TVs\, computer monitors\, desktop computers\, laptops\, tablets\, e-readers\, and portable DVD players to be refurbished or recycled \n\nNote: Data on the devices that are refurbished or recycled will be destroyed (more info here)\n\n\n\n\n\nSingle-use batteries (such as alkaline):\n\nAA\, AAA\, 9V\, C\, D\, and button cells\n\n\n\nLithium primary \n\n\n\n\n\nRechargeable batteries:\n\nLithium ion (Li-Ion)\n\n\n\nNickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd)\n\n\n\nNickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH)\n\n\n\nNickel Zinc (Ni-Zn)\n\n\n\nSmall Sealed Lead Acid (SSLA/Pb)\n\n\n\n\n\nUsed athletic shoes and sneakers in any size or condition. Shoes will be donated or recycled depending on condition. DESCRIPTION:Join project experts at 2 p.m. on Saturday\, April 25 to learn about the City’s recently completed Padden Creek Fish Passage Project. We will walk along the Interurban Trail and check out the two new fish-friendly culverts together\, learning about project construction and the fish of Padden Creek that benefit from the project. Our project biologist and engineer will be there to answer your questions. This event will include walking on uneven ground.  \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nThe tour will start at the parking lot of the Interurban Trail Rotary Trailhead where limited parking is available. Additional parking is available nearby on Clementine Street.  \n\n\n\nFind your bike route by visiting cob.org/bike\, or your bus route using WTA’s online trip planner.  \n\n\n\nCelebrate Trails Day\n\n\n\nThis event is one of several offered as part of Recreation Northwest’s Celebrate Trails Day. This annual celebration is an opportunity to get outside to experience the joy and impact of the country’s trails through events and self-designed outings.  \n\n\n\nEarth Week\n\n\n\nThis event is also one of many Earth Week events hosted by the City.
