SUMMARY:Climate Action Survey
DESCRIPTION:Take the City of Bellingham’s new 10-minute survey to help shape our community’s climate future! Total greenhouse gas emissions have leveled off since the City started tracking emissions in 2000. To meet our community’s ambitious goals to reduce emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change\, we are seeking feedback about community strategies that we can promote through programs\, policies\, regulations and incentives. Community input will inform a step-by-step plan with specific approaches to reduce emissions in homes and buildings\, increase the use of electric vehicles\, and use more energy from renewable sources. Learn more and take the survey on Engage Bellingham.  \n\n\n\nThe survey will close on October 6\, 2023. \n\n\n\nPhoto by Emily Goodin\n\n\n\nThis event is part of the City’s ALL IN for Climate Action Week. Find a full list of events.

SUMMARY:Emotions & Insights in a Climate Changing World
DESCRIPTION:This is an experiential and interactive event that allows participants to share their hopes\, solutions\, visions and ideas for health and wholeness given our climate changed world. We embrace the idea that as a community we can both imagine and then act in collaborative fashion\, joining together to envision new possibilities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Echoes of the Heart Ensemble improv actors listen and then play back participants’ insights by enacting the stories through short skits\, improvised movement\, and music. The results are typically insightful\, often funny\, and sometimes quite poignant.Allowing participants to tell their stories of how climate change impacts their well-being as well that of their families and community creates a space for people to digest their experiences as well as share their hopes\, inspirations\, and visions for the future. We believe that by witnessing our fellow community members expressing their current fears\, struggles and challenges\, we are empowered to imagine and act in collaborative fashion\, joining together across differences to magnify our mutual aspirations for a vibrant future within a climate-changed city and world. This is a multigenerational event hosted by the Multifaith Network for Climate Justice (MNCJ)\, in collaboration with Echoes of the Heart Ensemble\, Resonance Path\, Unity of Bellingham\, and Stillpoint at Beckside. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nUnity Spiritual Center1095 Telegraph RoadBellingham\, WA 98228 \n\n\n\nContact\n\n\n\nEmail: minister@unitybellingham.org Phone: (916) 265-8364 \n\n\n\nThis event is part of the City’s ALL IN for Climate Action Week. Find a full list of events.

SUMMARY:Forest Bathing/Nature Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Please join Stillpoint at Beckside for a guided Forest Bathing/Nature Therapy experience on Saturday\, Sept. 23\, 9am -12pm on Stillpoint’s 5 acres of sacred earth with beautiful trees. \n\n\n\nForest Bathing\, also referred to as Nature Therapy\, is a practice of soaking up sights\, sounds\, and the feel of our natural environment. This event offers an opportunity to experience a nourishing form of embodied self-care. There are studies showing that\, for some people\, ongoing experiences of Forest Bathing can be especially beneficial for those who are called to help heal the broken relationships between humans and the more-than-human world. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn a climate changed world\, healing of all life happens TOGETHER\, or not at all. The medicine that brings healing is in experiencing our interconnection. Forest bathing is a valued component of growing our awareness of oneness. \n\n\n\nJoin us for this outdoor\, contemplative experience of entanglement with nature and each other. \n\n\n\nThis event is hosted by Stillpoint at Beckside in partnership with Unity Spiritual Center and St. James Presbyterian Church. \n\n\n\n\nAbout the Event Facilitator\nEthan Teed has a deeply grounded spirituality rooted in creation and the sacramental nature of our world. He graduates from an EcoMinistry program through The Center for Wild Spirituality in October. Ethan will be one of the guides in this program for the 2023/24 cohort. He completed an EcoSpirituality Leaders program through the BTS Center which included training in ‘forest bathing/nature therapy.’ In addition\, he’s trained in leading ritual and ceremony through Joanna Macy’s “The Work That Reconnects” organization. Alongside of Ethan’s engagement in ministry and studies\, he is married\, the father of 4 young adults\, and works as a Critical Care RN. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nThis event is limited to 20 people and requires registration. Event registration is free!
