SUMMARY:Special City Council Meeting: Annual Lake Whatcom Joint Councils and Commissioners Meeting
DESCRIPTION:This is the annual joint legislative meeting of the Lake Whatcom Management Program and will include the Bellingham City Council\, the Whatcom County Council\, and the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District Board of Commissioners. At this meeting\, staff will provide a brief overview of the 2025 Lake Whatcom Progress Report and share updates on key program areas. Staff from Western Washington University’s Institute for Watershed Studies will also present lake monitoring data from 2025\, offering additional context to inform discussion. This will be an opportunity for elected officials to ask questions and discuss regional coordination around Lake Whatcom.  \n\n\n\nCouncilmembers and Commissioners will participate in this meeting in-person in City Council Chambers\, 210 Lottie Street\, Bellingham\, or remotely through the Zoom platform. Members of the public may come to the meeting in person or watch remotely. Council meetings are streamed live via the City’s website and on the City’s YouTube channel. Meetings are broadcast in high definition on BTV on Comcast channel 321\, and in standard definition on Comcast channel 10. Detailed information can be found approximately seven days prior to the meeting on this page. This is also where a video recording of the meeting will be posted within a few days of the meeting. \n\n\n\nIn-person participation\n\n\n\nThe meeting will take place in City Council Chambers at 210 Lottie Street. The doors to City Hall will open at 6 p.m. Please be aware that security screening is in place for anyone attending Council meetings.  \n\n\n\nOnline participation\n\n\n\n\nZoom link: cob.org/lwjcc\n\n\n\n\nPublic comment\n\n\n\nCommunity members are invited to provide comment during a 20-minute public comment period\, which is planned for approximately 8 p.m. to 8:20 p.m. Each speaker will have two minutes to speak. Speakers can participate in person or on Zoom. Anyone wishing to provide public comment must register in advance\, either using an online form or a paper sign-up sheet that will be available outside the Council Chamber doors starting at 6 p.m. the evening of the meeting. The sign-up period (both online and in-person) closes at 6:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nWritten comments can also be submitted by email to lakewhatcom@cob.org or by mail\, addressed to: City Council\, 210 Lottie Street\, Bellingham\, WA 98225.  \n\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility\n\n\n\nElevator access to the second floor is available at City Hall’s west entrance. DESCRIPTION:The Planning Commission is responsible for providing the City Council with recommendations regarding adoption or amendment to the City’s comprehensive plan\, neighborhood plans\, urban village plans\, zoning and other development regulations. The Commission also advises the Planning Director on some site specific development projects that raise substantial planning issues.  \n\n\n\nMeeting: The Commission typically meets on the first and third Thursday of each month in City Council Chambers\, located on the 2nd floor of Bellingham City Hall. Please note elevator access to the second floor is available at City Hall’s west entrance.
