Behavioral Health Officers

The Behavioral Health Officer Program was established June 2019. The Behavioral Health Officer works directly with our Mental Health Liaison to assist those suffering from mental health issues. The Behavioral Health Officer will provide a proactive approach to services thereby reducing overall calls for service allowing patrol officers to stay on the road.  The approach could reduce incarceration of citizens with mental health issues and or substance abuse issues by getting them connected with the appropriate services. The Behavioral Health Officer also works as the point of contact between numerous law enforcement and other government agencies to ensure channels of communication are kept open. Citizens are asked to call 911 in order to report any concerns with their or another persons mental health.
