The 2010 Annual Overlay Program aims to maintain existing streets to protect the initial investment in the street and to ensure an adequate quality driving surface for mobility and public safety.

2009-2010 Sewer Replacements – Trenchless

The 2009-2010 Sewer Replacement project consists primarily of replacing manholes and restoring sanitary sewer lines to near new condition through the use of trenchless technology and open cut methods in portions of seven neighborhoods.

Little Squalicum Park Master Plan

Park development at Little Squalicum will occur in multiple phases. Major arterial roads near the site include Marine Drive and Eldridge Avenue. The site is served by a major urban trail and comprises part or the regional Bay to Baker Trail corridor.

2009 Enhanced Pedestrian Crossings

This annual program constructs pedestrian crosswalk enhancements on arterial streets. Full funding in 2009 at the following locations: Northwest / Maplewood; North Samish / Newell; Lakeway / Grant; Alabama / Grant; York / Railroad.

Birchwood Neighborhood Pedestrian Improvements

Working with the Birchwood Safe Route to School team, the Birchwood Neighborhood Group, and the Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee, Public Works staff will identify, design and construct a pedestrian improvement project in the Birchwood Neighborhood.

Neighborhood Traffic Safety Program

Annual program to reduce cut-through traffic & speeding on residential streets, this includes the installation of traffic calming devices in selected areas. The construction of speed humps on Grant St., traffic diverters on King St., & etc.
