Addressing and Street Names

The City of Bellingham’s addressing and street naming standard, Bellingham Municipal Code, Chapter 17.30, was designed to facilitate efficient response by emergency services, minimize future street name and addressing conflicts, and comply with U.S. Postal standards to the greatest extent feasible.

Applications for new or changes of addresses, new or changes of street names, in the interest of safety of the community, are available online or at the Permit Center in City Hall.  These may be electronically submitted at fire@cob.org, and additional information may be obtained by contacting the Life Safety Division at 360-778-8420.

A list of pre-reviewed street names is available, but is not required to be utilized.  A Street Name Application may contain three choices that are not shown on the list.  The proposed names will be reviewed by 911 What-Comm for compliance with BMC 17.30.
