More than 30 years ago, Edwin “Skip” Williams moved from Tacoma to Bellingham and has proudly called Ward 4 his home ever since. A third-generation Washingtonian, Skip has raised his family in Bellingham and hopes his children will have the opportunity to work, raise their own families, and thrive in a community that values identity and pride of place.
Skip believes deeply in the power of service and community involvement as essential drivers of growth and development. He is committed to solving problems through informed discussion, thoughtful deliberation, and civil interaction – approaches that lead to long-term, sustainable solutions. For him, public service is the highest privilege and a meaningful way to address the needs of the community.
As Bellingham continues to grow, Skip recognizes the increasingly complex challenges the city faces, including homelessness, economic development, affordable housing, and racial and social justice. As a City Council Member, he is dedicated to addressing these issues and working toward sustainable solutions that serve the entire community. He believes this work must be guided by a shared vision of the city’s future and a collective willingness among residents to help make that vision a reality.
Skip remains committed to the principles of responsibility, collaboration, and long-lasting problem-solving. He continues to bring these values to his role on the Bellingham City Council, working alongside his colleagues and community members to build a stronger, more inclusive city.
In the words of Representative Jim Clyburn:
“You might not be totally happy with the final result but if you have done your best to get us where we need to be, you have done your job.”
