Juneteenth Flag Raising

Jun 15 (Monday) , 11:30 am 12:30 pm

Join us for a Juneteenth Flag Raising event at the flag plaza in front of City Hall.

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States, marking June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce freedom for those who were enslaved, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. African American communities across the country have celebrated this day of freedom ever since.

City Hall, Bellingham Public Library locations, and Arne Hanna Aquatic Center will be closed in observance of the federal holiday on Friday, June 19. Public Works and Parks emergency services can be reached at 360-778-7700. Police, fire, and medic services are always available by calling 911.

Location

210 Lottie St
Bellingham, Washington 98225 United States
