Heading into the holiday season, you may want to allow a little extra commute time. Not just because of extra drivers out shopping – but also because some Bellingham city streets will have traffic limitations during the week of December 5-9 as construction continues on some road projects. And certainly weather and road conditions can change rapidly; drivers should plan accordingly. Here's the work that is road work currently underway:
C Street and Roeder
The Port of Bellingham has been installing a city watermain on C and Roeder. Most of the work is on C Street, with intermittent delays on Roeder. As needed flaggers are directing traffic through the work zone.
Silver Beach Ave and Arbor Court
Drivers, residents and visitors to Whatcom Falls Park should expect construction traffic associated with the Water Treatment Plant pretreatment project. Due to increased construction-related traffic, there will be periodic flagging and limited trail access. The parking at Arbor Court and adjacent access to the waterline trail will be closed through 2018 to allow for construction. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) does not have any projects scheduled in Bellingham, but there is construction work throughout Whatcom County. Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of work including resurfacing, sidewalk construction, water and sewer main work, and utility cuts.
