One of the busiest travel windows of the year is coming up next week and so, as the state Department of Transportation advises, Know Before You Go. In addition to Thanksgiving travelers, there are a series of street (and park) construction projects that will affect traffic. As well, with early darkness and so many wearing dark clothing, please travel with care.
Cordata / Stuart / Horton – safety improvements project
Cordata Parkway from Kline Road to Kellogg Road, Stuart Road from Eliza Street to Cordata Parkway, and Horton Road from the west end to Meridian are being restriped to add dedicated center turn lanes, buffered bicycle lanes, flashing beacon crosswalks at the new Cordata Park and a roundabout at the Horton/Cordata intersection. There will be occasional lane closures and flaggers present. No detours are planned. Cordata Park – phase 1
Cordata Park construction activities include changes to sidewalk alignment, pedestrian entries into the park, installation of artwork, irrigation and paving along Cordata Parkway. Occasional lane closures related to park construction will occur on an as-needed basis this month, then again from January to April 2020. 2019 Transportation Benefit District projects – several locations
Rechannelization of Chestnut Street downtown is complete, with paver replacement work scheduled for late November. The 2019 Transportation Benefit District project work at the intersection of Lakeway and Old Lakeway has been suspended temporarily while materials are being gathered. Boulevard Park – Bayview Drive
Removal of the wooden pedestrian overpass was completed successfully this week and construction crews are leaving the park. Boulevard Park will be open, with business as usual by Monday, Nov. 25. All new utilities servicing the park via Bayview Drive are in place and operating. Final cleanup and restoration should be complete by the first week of December.
