The Bellingham Police Department Training unit is comprised of one sergeant, a firearms instructor and a training officer. Additionally, the unit oversees staff who hold State and National certifications as instructors in numerous disciplines.
The training unit coordinates and facilitates training for all members. It ensures that members meet State and Federal training requirements, monitors current trends in Law Enforcement, meets department goals and objectives, and facilitates appropriate training.
The training unit partners with community resources and stakeholders to receive and provide training to members of the agency and the community. The unit works with the Criminal Justice Training Commission and other entities to host and provide regional training opportunities.
