The Bellingham Police Department Training unit is comprised of one sergeant, a firearms instructor and a training officer. Additionally, the unit oversees staff who hold State and National certifications as instructors in numerous disciplines.
The training unit coordinates and facilitates training for all members of the Bellingham Police Department, commissioned and civilian. The officers assigned ensure BPD members meet State and Federal training requirements, monitor current trends in Law Enforcement, meet department goals and objectives, and facilitate appropriate training.
The training unit partners with community resources and stakeholders to receive and provide training to members of the agency and the community. The unit works with the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission and other entities to host and provide regional training opportunities.
