Yesterday, Bellingham Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 2700 W. Maplewood. When they arrived and formed a perimeter, a fleeing man dressed in a batman costume appeared. Our hero officers saw right through an imposter hero... Investigation revealed that our suspect and another man were visiting in the suspect`s apartment. According to the victim, he was punched multiple times unprovoked. The victim, who now had a bloody nose, was able to get away and return to his own apartment. The victim stated that he heard a knock at his door. When he opened it, the man that hit him was nearby holding a gun. The gun touting suspect shot at the victim but missed. The victim, who had his own firearm, returned fire. (Neither the suspect nor victim was hit by gunfire). It was at this time that Batman ran and, shortly thereafter, encounter our heroes. Batman was taken to the hospital for treatment of an injury unrelated to gunfire before being booked into the Whatcom County Jail on probable cause for Assault in the 2nd and 4th degree.
If anyone in the area witnessed the incident or took video/photographs, or has any information that is pertinent to the incident, please call the tip into 360-778-8611 or submit the tip online at www.cob.org/tips.

Kids, adults, and puppies alike will be out and about today trick or treating and more. Not to be the “Fun Police” but we must throw out an obligatory safety message… Drivers, please take extra precautions today. Stay off those phones, slow down, and, most importantly, avoid consuming any substance that could impact your driving. Trick or Treaters, please be careful. Look before crossing a road and wait for a driver to acknowledge you before stepping off the sidewalk. Since it is Halloween, we suppose you can take candy from strangers… just don’t make it a year-round habit. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Great work as always BPD!
Not in the Wood hood!?
Thank you BPD for keeping the area safe and secure.
Turning into Gothdam
That must have made for an interesting day. Glad everyone is safe.
His name is Jason Todd, lol. Bruce Wayne wouldn't use guns
Oh Maplewood some things never change
Ya just can't make this stuff up!
Wow! I remember a fight on Halloween between a monkey and a gorilla that happened in a bar on State Street, and, one was chasing the other. down the road! The guy in the monkey costume had started the fight, so, the responding officer asked dispatch how he could tell the difference between the monkey and gorilla costumes , and dispatch said the monkey was in front of the gorilla, as they ran down the street!
No Jokers!?! Apparently Robin and the Batmobile were unavailable to assist. 🤦♀️🤦♀️ Good job BPD!! 💙💙
I’d really like to know why both people weren’t arrested for illegally discharging a firearm!!! I mean isn’t it illegal to just start shooting outside apartment complex where people and children live? “a person cannot aim a firearm towards a human being per RCW 9.41. 230(1)(a). And, state law prohibits a person from willfully discharging a firearm in a public place or any place where a person might be endangered.” I wonder if these guns were obtained legally? I can appreciate a funny story like anybody else, but I don’t find anything humorous in this story at all!
It's not the real Batman! Batman didn't use guns. This person is an imposter.
I feel sorry for any little kids who may have witnessed this and will lay awake nights for years

4?? ? 2??
ACAB
You got mine and my family
While I don't believe that the increase in crime, homelessness, open-air drug use/public intoxication, etc is the fault of BPD, if I were in charge of the BPD's social media footprint, I wouldn't necessarily bring up the subject, since it's hard to question anyone's "commitment to community" while at the same time, powerless to do anything to protect the community because your hands are tied.
Far more so than the policy of BPD!
Is that a rhetorical question?
