Backyard habitat and native flora fair held May 21

Event at Fairhaven Village Green includes native plant sale

​All are invited to attend the Backyard Habitat and Native Flora Fair on Saturday May 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fairhaven Village Green. Learn how to make your yard, schoolyard, or place of work into a wildlife-friendly landscape.

The Washington Native Plant Society will be present with common and unusual native plants for sale, and experts will be available to answer questions. The North Cascades Audubon Society will have nesting boxes offered for donation.

Local groups including the Master Gardeners, Whatcom Land Trust, The Cascadian Food Institute, Bellingham Public Works Natural Resources and more will be presenting informational displays. There will be an activity and craft booth for children. An educational native plant walk will depart from the Village Green at 1 p.m.
