The City of Bellingham's drinking water isn't just clean and safe. It's also the best-tasting water in the Pacific Northwest, according to the American Water Works Association (AWWA.)
Bellingham's water sample won the AWWA Pacific Northwest section's annual Best Taste contest on Feb. 24. The contest included entries ranging from large municipalities, including Everett, to small independent water districts from throughout Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom, Island, Jefferson and Clallam counties. The City of Bellingham also won the association's very first Taste Test, ten years ago.
What makes the drinking water taste so good? It's a combination of the source water – the City of Bellingham takes its drinking water from Lake Whatcom – and the professional expertise of the operators, technicians and scientists who work at the Water Treatment Plant or are part of its distribution system. More information about the City's water treatment and water quality is available in the annual Drinking Water Quality consumer confidence report.
