This is a great opportunity for creative ingenuity! The City of Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department is accepting suggestions on what to name the new park until the end of business Dec. 30, 2016.
The City acquired the 20-acre park in 2015 with voter approved Greenways 3 Levy funds. The park is located on the east side of Cordata Parkway between Stuart and Horton Roads in the Cordata Neighborhood. The park master planning process is currently underway. “Naming community parks is a challenge,” said Nicole Oliver, Parks Development Manager. “We need something that people can identify with and that captures the sense of place.”
Citizens of Bellingham are invited to submit their park name ideas via e-mail, regular mail, or drop their idea in the wooden suggestion box in the Parks and Recreation Administration Office, second floor City Hall, 210 Lottie Street, Bellingham, WA 98225.
The City Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will recommend a park name from the pool of suggested names to the Bellingham City Council for final adoption in early 2017. (PAR 01.00.01).
