May 13, 2016 - by Amy Cloud, Communications and Outreach

Drivers need to know that the following City of Bellingham streets will have traffic limitations during the week of May 16-20 in order to accommodate construction. Motorists are reminded that weather and road conditions can change rapidly; drivers should plan accordingly.

Nevada Street – from Alabama Street to Virginia Street
Work on a water main project will impact traffic, including flagging and temporary lane closure as crews perform trenching for utility work. For more information, contact Stephen Day, P.E., Project Engineer, at smday@cob.org or 778-7944.

Donovan Avenue – between 21st and 22nd Streets
Construction work on a Happy Valley neighborhood sewer main replacement project will impact traffic on this block.  A short detour will be in place to Harris Avenue.  For more information, visit the City's web page at Sanitary Sewer Replacement or contact Craig Mueller, P.E., Project Engineer, at camueller@cob.org or 778-7922.

22nd Street – Old Fairhaven Parkway to Happy Court
Construction work on a Happy Valley neighborhood sewer main replacement project will require closing this block to through traffic.  Local traffic access will be maintained. For more information, visit the City's web page at Sanitary Sewer Replacement or contact Craig Mueller, P.E., Project Engineer, at camueller@cob.org or 778-7922.

The City of Bellingham Public Works Department provides this road status update, as a public service, based on currently available information. When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution and obey flaggers at all times. Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of work including resurfacing, sidewalk construction, water and sewer main work, and utility cuts. Dates, times and work locations are subject to change due to inclement weather or last-minute changes in work schedules.
