Cornwall Park improvements underway

Expect intermittent closures at Cornwall Park north entrance

May 31, 2017 - by Gina Austin

The Cornwall Park north entrance and parking lot may be closed without notice Monday through Thursday, June 5 to June 8.

Demolition activities will make way for trail and parking improvements and native habitat planting. The new trail through Cornwall Park will connect to the recently unveiled Squalicum Creek segment of the Bay to Baker trail.

The public is asked to observe construction signs and use alternate access routes into the park. The south entrance off Meridian Street will remain open, as will all trails into the park. Playgrounds and shelters will also remain open and all utilities are expected to be in service during construction. After the parking lot is reopened, some parking stalls may be cordoned off for construction activities. Construction equipment will be operating during normal business hours for the duration of the project.

Allowing the contractor a safe zone to work will help keep everyone out of harm's way and keep this project on schedule for completion in late September.
