Do Good in your Neighborhood on Saturday

Volunteers needed in York, Happy Valley neighborhoods

September 29, 2017 - by Rae Edwards, Bellingham Parks Volunteer Coordinator

Roll up your sleeves and get involved in Do Good in Your Neighborhood Day on Saturday, September 30 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event is an opportunity to build connections with your neighbors while doing some good in the York and Happy Valley neighborhoods.

Everyone is welcome. Events are at Harriet Spanel Park (formally Franklin Park) in the York neighborhood and Our Savior Lutheran Church (Skookum Kids Benefit Garden) in the Happy Valley neighborhood.

Come dressed to weed and work with tools. We'll provide tools and gloves. Please wear long pants and closed toed shoes. A generous donation by Papa Murphy's will fuel a celebration when the work is done. This is a collaborative event between Western Washington University, Bellingham Parks and Recreation, and Whatcom Volunteer Center.

For more information contact Rae Edwards, Bellingham Parks Volunteer Coordinator about the Harriet Spanel Park event at 360-778-7105 and the Skookum Kids Benefit Garden event contact the Volunteer Center at 360-734-3055. Hope to see you there!
