Coming out of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, you can expect a few traffic delays. Some Bellingham city streets will have traffic limitations during the week of January 17-20 as construction or other work continues. In winter especially, weather and road conditions can change rapidly; drivers should plan accordingly. This is road work currently underway:
West Holly Street – from Central Avenue to Broadway
Drivers should expect construction with flagging, temporary lane revisions, and on-street parking restrictions, as crews work on a watermain utility replacement project. Road work will most likely be near Maritime Heritage Park and C Street. Girard and 'B' Streets
The failing traffic signal is being removed in favor of all-way flashing stop, as part of a 90-day study. At the conclusion of the study, the all-way stop is expected to become permanent. For more information, contact Steve Haugen, traffic operations engineer, at shaugen@cob.org or (360) 778-7700.
Silver Beach Ave and Arbor Court
With construction underway on the City's new water pretreatment plant (inside Whatcom Falls Park) drivers, residents and visitors may experience traffic associated with that work with periodic flagging and limited trail access. Note: parking at Arbor Court and adjacent access to the waterline trail will be closed through 2018 to allow for construction.
