One of Bellingham's most heavily traveled arterials will be impacted overnight Monday, July 30 for emergency repair work.
City of Bellingham Public Works crews will begin work in the 1200 block of Lakeway Drive at 10 p.m. Monday, July 30, to repair a leaking watermain. Work should be complete by 6 a.m., but it is possible that the morning commute on Tuesday, July 31 will be affected.
The work will require closing one lane of Lakeway Drive in each direction overnight and will have the noise typically generated by this type of repair, including jack hammers, excavators and truck back-up alarms. It is regrettable to have this noise going on overnight; however, Lakeway Drive is such a busy route, the safest time to complete this work is when traffic is the lightest.
