Due to extreme weather conditions, Mayor Kelli Linville has directed that only essential City of Bellingham services will remain open today. Essential services include public safety professionals, the library, and some limited public works, parks and IT staff. City Hall and Bellingham Municipal Court will not be open.
The Bellingham Public Library central library will remain open today during regular business hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Library branches are closed today.
The Mayor signed a proclamation yesterday that an emergency exists throughout the City of Bellingham for the winter storms that began on February 8. This authorizes the City to provide appropriate emergency assistance to the victims of this current winter storm and take other actions to protect life and property as appropriate.
This morning the Mayor has determined that closing non-essential City services because of weather is consistent with the City’s mission of public safety. Discouraging all unnecessary public traffic, including City employees traveling to work, will allow crews to concentrate on emergency response such as snow-clearing operations.
