Submissions now accepted for 2019 Essence of Bellingham Photo Competition

City expecting a wide range of subject matter

March 06, 2019 - by Allayana Darrow

Amateur and professional photographers of all ages are invited to submit their best work to the Mayor and City Council for review in the Essence of Bellingham Photo Competition.

For the fourteenth year in a row, the City of Bellingham and the Whatcom Museum will sponsor this photography competition to highlight what residents love most about life in their community. Photos must have been taken after Jan. 1, 2018 and capture the “essence” of living, working or playing in Bellingham.

Digital or scanned entries can be submitted to the City website until May 1, 2019. Each photographer may submit up to 10 photos.

Awards will be given for Best of Show, Best of Class, Best of Category and for Honorable Mentions. Winning entries will be featured in the First Friday Art Walk on June 7. All entries will be added to the Whatcom Museum's photo archives and may appear on BTV, the City website and in other City publications.

Complete competition details and winning photos from previous years can be found at cob.org/eob. Search #essenceofbellingham on Instagram for examples of past submissions.
