Enjoy late summer days with Bellingham Parks & Recreation programs

Outdoor and virtual programs for Bellingham families to enjoy safely at home this summer

August 06, 2020 - by Todd Elsworth, Communication Coordinator

New community programs feature activities kids can do at home, virtual events, online music in the park, and more. There is something for everyone under the sun or in the comfort of your home through the end of August.

“We have been working throughout the summer to create new and innovative programs for youth, families and individuals to do in the safety of their own environments,” Lauren Woodmansee, Recreation Supervisor, said.
She said children have been traveling on virtual adventures to Peru, outer space, and beyond, as part of the Camp at Home program. Families are reserving their own Fab-Fam-Fun Home Activity Kits, while adults and children alike are loving Virtual Painting classes. In addition to these ongoing programs, the summer would not be complete without a Skate the Unknown camp, she added.

Bellingham Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Max Higbee Center, provides popular SPIN dances each month for individuals with disabilities. The beloved Elizabeth Park Summer Concert series has not missed a beat this year, thanks to all the hard work and creativity of community partners including the Historical Eldridge Society, KMRE 102.3 FM and Varvid. Great performances are every Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m.

The programs are listed in the Summer Playbook
