Snow, ice, wind, flooding – hopefully by Monday all that is “so last week.” However, there are other potential traffic effects, including several holiday events on Monday as well as ongoing street construction projects. Please, travel with care.
N. State from Franklin to E. Champion – natural gas project
Work is underway to install a new natural gas main under Whatcom Creek in preparation for the City’s pending bridge replacement project. The center turn lane on North State Street, from Whatcom Creek to Meador, will remain closed during this work. Drivers will encounter lane shifts and some flagging. For more information, contact Cascade Natural Gas via Joe Wilkinson at (360) 788-2369 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cornwall Ave – storm outfall project
Crews are working on the storm outfall. In preparation for the City’s new stormwater infrastructure construction, Cascade Natural Gas is wrapping up work on a gas main in Cornwall Avenue at Pine Street while other workers may be focusing on drainage at the bottom on Cornwall. Drivers can expect lane shifts, perhaps reduction to single lane travel and some flagging, as the excavation for the storm pipe moves closer to the intersection of Cornwall and Pine and Wharf streets. No detours are planned. For more information, contact Craig Mueller, P.E., project engineer, via email@example.com or (360) 778-7922.
Cordata / Stuart / Horton – safety improvements project
Expect to see restriping along Cordata Parkway from Kline Road to Kellogg Road, Stuart Road from Eliza Street to Cordata Parkway and Horton Road from the west end to Meridian. We are adding dedicated center turn lanes, buffered bicycle lanes, flashing beacon crosswalks at the new Cordata Park, as well as a roundabout at the Horton/Cordata intersection. There will be occasional lane closures and flaggers present. No detours are planned. For more information, visit the Cordata/Stuart/Horton project web page or contact Craig Mueller, P.E., project engineer, via firstname.lastname@example.org or (360) 778-7922.
Cordata Park – phase 1
Cordata Park construction activities include changes to sidewalk alignment, pedestrian entries into the park, installation of artwork, irrigation and paving along Cordata Parkway. Occasional lane closures related to park construction are on hiatus and scheduled to resume the end of this month and last through April 2020. For more information, visit the Cordata Park project web page or contact project manager Jonathan Schilk at email@example.com or (360) 778-7000.
2019 Transportation Benefit District projects – several locations
Rechannelization of Chestnut Street downtown is complete and – weather permitting – paver replacement work continues. The 2019 Transportation Benefit District project work at the intersection of Lakeway and Old Lakeway has resumed with work on the watermain there. For more information, visit the TBD project web page or contact Freeman Anthony, P.E., project engineer, via firstname.lastname@example.org or (360) 778-7924.

We provide this “road report” as a public service based on currently available information. When traveling through a construction area – whether walking, cycling or driving – please be patient, travel with care and always obey flaggers. In dark weather, please make sure you’re visible to others. Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of work including resurfacing, sidewalk construction, water and sewer main work, and utility cuts. Dates, times and work locations may vary, depending on inclement weather or last-minute changes in work schedules. Questions? Contact AskPW@cob.org.
