Bellingham Police detectives investigate early morning shooting

Two men shot, severe injuries reported

On October 16, 2022, Bellingham Police Department (BPD) patrol division responded to the 2300 block of Valencia for an assault with a firearm.  The officers found one person shot at the scene and immediately began rendering aid. During that time, another victim arrived at PeaceHealth St Joseph Emergency Department.  Both men, 31 and 28 years of age, sustained life-threatening injuries.  No motive is known, and there is no threat to the public at this time.

Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Valencia by a man who called 9-1-1, reporting he was shot and needed help.  Shortly after that, PeaceHealth St Joseph Emergency Department called to report a man with gunshot wounds was dropped off by a personal car.

BPD Crime Scene Investigators and Detectives are investigating this shooting incident.  No clear motive for the shooting has been established.  Detectives are in the beginning stages of their investigation to determine the facts of this incident.
