Bellingham Police searching for murder suspect

Shilo A. Englert, 33, wanted for murder in killing of woman on 2-8-22

On February 8, 2022, Bellingham Police were called to the 1000 block N. State Street for a welfare check, which immediately turned into a homicide investigation.  Officers found a deceased woman, age 31, in the stairwell of the building.  Since then, BPD Detectives have actively been working this case. Their investigation identified Shilo A. Englert, 33, from Bellingham, as the suspect in this case.  There is an active warrant for Englert’s arrest for murder 2nd degree.

Officers were sent to the 1000 block of N State Street at approximately 9:29 p.m., on February 8, 2022, for a welfare check.  The patrol officers found a deceased woman in the stairwell with a gunshot wound to her body.  It has been determined she died as a result of the gunshot wound and her death is a homicide. BPD Crime Scene Investigators (CSI,) detectives and Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s Office personnel responded to the scene to begin their investigation.

There is probable cause for Englert’s arrest as a result of the detectives’ investigation. An active arrest warrant for murder 2nd degree exists.  We are seeking the assistance of anyone who knows where Englert may be hiding and ask they contact BPD in one of the following ways:
