Out of more than 300 submissions, five photographers were selected to receive top awards for their photos in the 18th annual “Essence of Bellingham” Photo Competition.
- Best of Show – 1st Place – “Evening Bay” by Macy Adkinson
- Best of Show – 2nd Place – “Northern Flickers (version 1)” by Elaine Miller Bond
- Best of Show – 3rd Place – “Gradient” by Adrian Heffelman
- Best of Class – K-4 Grade – “Rainbow on Nevada Street” by Margaux Barber
- Climate Action Award – “A Pollinator’s Dream” by Phillip Johnson
Along with top winners, 80 photos also received best of category and honorable mention awards.

The competition is sponsored by and juried by representatives of the City of Bellingham and Whatcom Museum. Winning entries were selected based on how well they capture the essence of Bellingham and the quality of the photograph. All entries will be added to Whatcom Museum photo archives and may appear on BTV, on the City website and social media, or in City publications.
