Today, Feb. 17, 2026, the City of Bellingham released its 2026 State of the City update, a video featuring Mayor Kim Lund reflecting on the City’s accomplishments from 2025 and sharing priority work for 2026.
In the video, Mayor Lund highlights City progress on a wide range of issues, including:
- Strategic steps taken to overcome a $10 million budget shortfall and create a balanced budget for 2026
- Crucial public works projects, including transportation improvements and long-overdue improvements to our wastewater treatment plant
- Our continued investment in Downtown
- New additions to our public spaces, such as Little Squalicum Pier
- Efforts to listen to, protect, and support all community members
She also outlines key priorities for 2026, including investing in the future of housing, renovating the Central Library, and advancing plans for improved indoor recreation.
In her closing thoughts on the work of teams across the City, Mayor Kim Lund said, “We are passionate about going to work each day to create a more affordable, more connected, and thriving Bellingham. Together we are striving to deliver consistent, high-quality services, not as individual departments or branches of government, but as a One City team, serving this place that we love.”
