25th Street Pedestrian Improvements between Bill McDonald Parkway and Sehome Arboretum

Project Overview

This project will include pedestrian improvements between Bill McDonald Parkway and Sehome Arboretum on 25th Street in conjunction with the House of Healing being built by Western Washington University (WWU).

Project Status 2024

The City of Bellingham and WWU have entered into an interlocal agreement that includes the City providing WWU with $600,000 in transportation funds to design and construct this project.

Project Background

The City and WWU, with $4.5 million in support from the State of Washington, are partnering to construct a Coast Salish House of Healing longhouse in the Sehome Hill Arboretum. This is the first longhouse built in the City of Bellingham and will be used as a cultural gathering place for university students as well as the public.

Funding

This project is funded by the voter-approved Bellingham Transportation Fund.
