Bellis Fair Family Housing and Learning Center Frontage Improvements and Trail Connections

Project Overview – ES571

This project will construct curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the west side of Bellis Fair Parkway, south of Eliza Avenue, to a new mid-block crosswalk. The improvements will serve as frontage improvements for planned Opportunity Council development of the existing “motorcycle lot” parking lot. New trail connections will also be constructed within existing City right-of-way both west and south of the development.

Project Status – 2024

Project design is being done in coordination with the Opportunity Council’s new affordable housing and childcare center development and the implementation timeline will be determined by schedule of the development project.

Project Background

Through ongoing coordination, the Opportunity Council and City of Bellingham determined that there was the opportunity for the City to construct on and off-street multimodal infrastructure that would support connectivity for people walking and biking in the Meridian and Cordata neighborhoods, as well as the new Opportunity Council development.

Funding

Project is funded by the Transportation Fund and Greenway Levy Fund.
