Project Overview
Improve the road driving surface in the Silver Beach and Samish neighborhood areas. The project also proposes to improve watermain along Northshore Dr and Verona St and a storm upgrade on Verona from Alabama to Texas.
The project will do overlays to the following street sections:
- Flynn St from the alley (near Electric Ave) to Decatur St with a new RRFB at Electric Ave and Flynn St.
- Academy Rd from Northshore Dr to the City limits.
- Northshore Dr from Hayward Dr to Silver Beach Ave. In addition, the project proposes to upgrade the waterline along this section of Northshore Dr.
- Sylvan from Alabama St to Silver Beach Ave.
- 40th St from Mill Ave to Donovan Ave.
Project Status
The project was awarded to Granite Construction on August 26, 2024. Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2024. As portions of the project are in the Lake Whatcom watershed, some paving may occur in Spring 2025.
Funding
The improvements are funded by City Street Funds and voter-approved Bellingham Transportation Funds.
