Creating a Multiple Property Listing is a method used to concurrently list a series of related, but independent, properties on the National Register of Historic Places. Owners of eligible historic commercial buildings (within the documentation area) can easily list their structures by utilizing the Multiple Property Listing Document, or “MPD; thereby making them eligible for both local and federal tax incentives.
Central Business District
In 2003, the Bellingham Planning and Community Development Department completed the National Register of Historic Places Multiple Property Documentation Nomination (pdf) for commercial buildings (1882-1915) located in the Central Business District.
This was the first of several historic resource planning actions identified in the City Center Master Plan – Chapter 4: Historic Resources, page 4-7, #2, “Recommended Actions” (PDF), and since then, a number of buildings have been added. The following commercial buildings (click the photograph for a larger view) have been nominated for the National Register of Historic Places and are all located within the Multiple Property Listing Boundary (map).
