If we have property belonging to you and it is ready to be released, we will send you notice. If you have received the notice, call our Lost and Found Division of the Bellingham Police Department, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 AM – 11:30 and 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM, for an appointment. Once you receive an appointment time, you must bring the notice, reference event number, and picture identification with you to the police station, at 505 Grand Avenue.
If you believe we have property belonging to you, please call the Evidence and ID Division of the Bellingham Police Department before coming to the station. It is helpful to have the reference event number when you call. Please remember that an appointment is required prior to Evidence and ID releasing your property.
Filing A Claim For Found Property:
- Within 7 days of finding, report and surrender property to the police department.
- Within 7 days of finding, give written notice to the police department of intent to claim property.
- At the end of 60 days call the Lost and Found Division of the Bellingham Police Department, and if not claimed by an owner, the property may be released to you upon payment of a $10 finder’s fee.
- It is your responsibility to contact us at the end of 60 days. No notices will be sent.
