In 2026, we launched our first annual utility report to help explain the essential services your City utility bill supports. Your utility bill helps provide clean drinking water, maintain wastewater systems, manage stormwater, and protect Lake Whatcom.
2025 Expenditures
Your utility bill supports the essential services that keep our community running. We serve more than 100,000 residents with 155 employees across four utilities supporting essential services.
- Drinking Water: $29 million
- Stormwater: $22 million
- Wastewater: $48 million
- Lake Whatcom Watershed: $15 million
Every investment helps keep our services reliable, safe, and resilient. Most people only notice utility systems when something goes wrong. Our work helps keep water flowing, wastewater moving, stormwater draining, and Lake Whatcom protected so these essential services are all here when you need them.
More information about the work that takes place behind the scenes can be found in our annual report.
