Bellingham Police Department's annual Shop with a Cop event took place this morning at Walmart! 🚓🚒🎅
The Bellingham Police Department, Bellingham Police Association, Walmart and Bellingham Public Schools team up to put this event on for some very special kids. The Bellingham Fire Department led the parade of officers to Walmart and delivered Santa right at the front door!
The officers met with the kids and went inside for some shopping, photos with Santa, breakfast and some gift wrapping. We want to thank all the volunteers from Walmart, Support Officers Of Whatcom County, the school district and members of BPD who helped out in every way from registration to wrapping the hundreds of gifts for the kids! We could not do this without you!
Thank you to the officers from all the agencies who helped make this a wonderful holiday for these families!

While parts of Whatcom and Skagit counties are experiencing significant flooding, conditions inside Bellingham are more localized. We’re not expecting widespread flooding, but some streets have high water, including a few temporary street closures. Additional locations may see standing water throughout the day as rainfall continues.
Here's how to stay safe and informed:
- Call 911 for weather or road-related emergencies. - Report localized flooding, downed trees, or other road issues on Bellingham streets using SeeClickFix: cob.org/about/contacts/report. Our Public Works team is all-hands-on-deck this week responding to issues as quickly as they can. - Follow Whatcom Ready for County-related information and road closures.

UPDATE on hit run investigation at 2:00 p.m.: The suspect and his truck have been located. The driver, a 35-year-old male, was arrested for felony hit and run and is being booked into jail. Thank you to those who called in tips and provided relevant video!

“Our hearts are heavy for the two West Virginia National Guard members who were shot while on active duty yesterday in Washington D.C. We stand with them, their loved ones, and all the National Guard members across the nation.
Violence like this is horrific and unacceptable. As soon as I was notified of the investigation and the possible connection to Bellingham, I called our local FBI partners to offer Bellingham Police Department’s assistance with their criminal investigation of this case. We are closely monitoring the situation for any updates.
People who serve and protect our communities, like the two wounded West Virginia National Guard members, represent the best of what we strive for and we honor their service, sacrifice, and courage.”
Bellingham Police Investigation Division is seeking public assistance and raising attention to the BPD 2009 unsolved homicide case of Bryan L. Marriott.
We are bringing attention back to this unsolved homicide case in the month of the 16th anniversary of Mr. Marriott’s murder. BPD Detectives are still looking for any information which may lead to an arrest in this case. Here is the summary:
On November 20, 2009, at approximately 11:11 p.m., Bryan Marriott, age 43, was found shot to death next to his vehicle on E. Ivy at N. Garden Street in Bellingham, Washington. Witnesses heard an argument just before the shooting and reported seeing a dark colored passenger car leaving the area.
For the past 16 years, this case has remained open with little to no new information. Detectives investigating the case hope someone seeing this post or watching the video will remember some detail which will aid in solving this crime. Or, after all these years, the person involved may feel more willing to come forward and help provide answers and closure for Mr. Marriott`s family.
