💊💊REMINDER: DEA National Rx TakeBack Day is TOMORROW💊💊
Don`t forget that tomorrow (Saturday, April 27) is National Drug Take Back Day.
BPD and the Whatcom County Sheriff`s Office will collect, and appropriately dispose of, your unused/unwanted medications. Two collection site options are available between 10am and 2pm.
💓 You can come see *US* at the Bellingham Police Department at 505 Grand Ave.
😐 Or, you can go see *THEM*... WCSO Deputies will be at the Birch Bay Library
7948 Birch Bay Dr in Blaine.
Either is fine... it won`t hurt our feelings if you visit the Deputies instead... 😔 What matters is that your unused medications are safely and appropriately disposed of.
For more info, visit https://www.dea.gov/takebackday.

Running down some Bellingham streets, like Eldridge, are reflective delineators marking off the bike lane from the regular traffic lanes. BPD recently had a social media follower reach out via Messenger to ask if they were allowed to pull off into the bike lanes in between the markers in the event that an ambulance with lights activated was to come up behind them.
It`s a great question!
ANSWER: While those bike lanes are no parking or idling areas, if any emergency vehicle (🚓, 🚑, and yes even 🚒) has its lights activated, the best course of action is to first check for bicyclists in the lane, if the bike lane is clear motorists can cautiously make their way to the right-hand side of the roadway. After all emergency vehicles pass, proceed to merge back into the road, as traffic allows, freeing the bike lane back up to cyclists 🚴♀️.
