Astra the Chinook mix!! I have pictures of her as a puppy. 😍

Wow 😮 that’s a Big responsibility so will pray for you the most qualified (and must be a dog lover of course) person will come your way 😃🙏

I couldn't get work done 😂

Skagit Preschool and Resource Center invited Officer Parker to give their students an introduction to law enforcement late last month. He delighted the robust group of preschoolers and provided them a hands-on opportunity to paw through his squad car and check out his badge. Ofc. Parker taught them how to recognize a police officer, showed them the tools and safety equipment he carries, instructed them how and when to call 911 to summon help, and more. They loved making the lights flash, pressing buttons on the radio, and using the PA mic. Oddly enough, some of them *REALLY* liked the back seat...🤷‍♀️ (We're hoping they strive to be in the front seat of our vehicles someday instead). One of the kiddos awarded Ofc. Parker with a dandelion to thank him for the awesome show-and-tell. Talk about an awwwwwwwwwwwwwe moment. 🥰 ... See MoreSee Less

I remember my hubby doing this. Building connections when they are young. hopefully these kiddos will never need to reach out for help, but these bonds help them if they ever need to. Thank you, Officer Parker!

Did anyone else think of Marty McFly in "Back to the Future"? "Get used to those bars, kid" 😄 Good job as always, BPD!

I think this is so important, especially now days with the disrespect of law inforcement going on.

OY! All you joggers and runners out there- we see you *ALL* the time pounding pavement around town. We know it is because you have been training to participate in Fun with the Fuzz 5k on May 4, 2024. Good news for you- registration is OPEN!! The event, which starts and finishes at Bellingham Police Department, is put on by Behind the Badge Foundation, a trusted resource providing comprehensive support to Washington State’s law enforcement agencies, families, and communities after an officer has died or suffered a serious injury in the line of duty. You can register for the 5k as an individual or as a team (there are prizes for the largest team and the team that raises the most money). In addition to feeling amazing for supporting a good cause, your $20 registration fee will get the first 1,000 people who register a pint glass and a reusable grocery sack (that may sound lame to some of you young whipper snappers... but those things are hot commodities!) Additional details can be found online at www.funwiththefuzz5k.com/the-race. Go register and circle the date on your calendar! MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!!!

Just after 3:00 this morning (4/15/2024), What-Comm dispatch received multiple calls reporting that shots could be heard from the woods near Tull Rd., off Kellogg. When officers arrived in the area, they encountered a group of people, one of whom was loaded into a cart and had an obvious gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers began rendering aid to the injured man and he was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed. The people assisting the man did not identify themselves to officers. Search warrants were obtained to go onto the private property for further investigation. BPD deployed K9 assets and an Unmanned Aircraft System to search for other potential victims and evidence. Detectives and crime scene investigators believe they have identified the location in the woods where the shooting incident occurred. BPD SWAT also responded to provide scene security.

The death investigation is being treated as a homicide. Detectives are withholding the identity of the decedent until positive identification is determined by the Medical Examiner. At this time, no one has been taken into custody regarding the shooting. Investigation is ongoing.

Detectives are requesting that anyone with information regarding the shooting incident, to include possible identities of witnesses or other victims, to contact the BPD detectives at 360-778-8770. Tips can also be reported online at www.cob.org/tips. Please reference case number 24B20913.

No other information is available at this time.
