Our last Ask Us Anything event of the year is coming up next Wednesday, August 19, at Larrabee Lager Co. from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Join Mayor Kim Lund and her leadership team for an open, conversational evening where you can ask questions about City priorities, upcoming projects, or anything else you’ve been curious about. This event is open to the whole community, and we’d love to see you there.

Northbound I-5 lane reductions in Bellingham expected this weekend
WSDOT will be reducing northbound I‑5 to a single lane from 6–10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15–16, between Samish Way and Texas Street, while their crews replace damaged concrete panels. The Iowa Street on‑ramp to northbound I‑5 will also close from 6 a.m.–1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15. Expect delays and please help keep crews safe by slowing down and removing distractions. Work may be rescheduled if weather doesn’t cooperate.
Upcoming smoke testing
Public Works crews will be conducting sewer smoke testing in sections of the Lettered Streets and Cornwall Park neighborhoods during the week of Aug. 17–20. This safe, non-toxic test helps identify places where rainwater or groundwater may be entering the wastewater system and causing flooding. Testing was originally planned for mid-July but was delayed due to rainy weather. Learn more and view testing area on our smoke testing page.
The Library’s Children’s Craft Fair is back at Bellis Fair Mall
Our next Bellingham Public Library Children’s Craft Fair is inside Bellis Fair Mall on Friday, Aug. 21, 5–7 p.m. Fifty booths of amazing creations by youth entrepreneurs will take over the mall’s interior hallways for two hours of shopping delight. Bring cash and the whole family for a festive evening out. All items are $5 or less, and all sales are cash only.
