Woburn Sewer Replacement

Project Overview: EU190

This project will replace sewer mains in the following areas:

  • Woburn Street from Fraser Street south
  • Woburn Street from Texas Street to Barkley Boulevard
  • Barkley Boulevard from Woburn Street to Newmarket Street
  • Yew Street from Carolina Street to Texas Street
Map showing where project impacts are located, which includes sections of Barkley and Woburn where the two streets intersect, a section of Woburn and Fraser where they intersect, and a small section of Yew Street south of Alabama Street.
The highlighted sections of Woburn, Barkley, Yew, and Fraser on this map will be impacted by the project. Click on the map to open a larger PDF version.

Open cut methods will be utilized to replace the existing mains with the exception of Barkley Boulevard, which will use directional boring (horizontal directional drilling).

There will be extensive traffic disruptions with this project with the center lane of Woburn closed to traffic during work and flaggers present for approximately six months. Minor detours may be needed for specific sections of the work. Access to businesses, as well as local access to homes and for emergency vehicles, will be maintained during construction.

Once complete, the impacted areas will be repaved, and all pedestrian ramps made fully ADA accessible.

This project is funded by City sanitary sewer funds.
