The Bellingham Police Department offers several free services to help citizens learn about crime prevention. One such service is the security surveys. A Crime Prevention officer can come to your business or home and conduct a security surveys.
The officer will walk through the house or business and point out ways to make the area “target hard”. The goal is to make it difficult for a criminal to access the area without great effort and noise. The areas of concerns are exterior windows and doors, lighting, landscaping, and general accessibility.
After the walk through, the officer will summarize the suggestions that were made and include them in a letter sent to you.
