Civil Service Commission meetings are held in Council Chambers at City Hall. Those unable to attend in person may register to attend remotely at the Webinar Registration Page. The agenda for the current meeting and previous meetings are available on the Meeting Materials page. The Civil Service Commission provides for the classification of over 500 civil service employees and for open and competitive examinations at both entry and promotional levels. The Commission may also review the suspension, removal, or discharge of civil service employees and will investigate such actions, hold public hearings, and reinstate employees if justified. The Commission is staffed by the Human Resources Department of the City of Bellingham in its role as the administrator of the City’s Civil Service System. Meeting duration may vary. Provide Your Input In Person, During a Meeting: At all meetings of the Civil Service Commission, there is an opportunity for public comment. Public comment is limited to three (3) minutes and to topics related to Commission business. Public comment may be made in person or remotely. Information on attending in person can be found on the Civil Service Commission Page and remotely at the Webinar Registration Page. In Writing, Before/After a Meeting: Public comments are accepted any time at the below addresses. For written comment to be considered prior to a particular Commission meeting, the comment must be delivered to one of the below addresses at least 48 hours prior to the Commission meeting.
