Volunteer Work Party in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
Jan 13 (Saturday) , 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
*Cancellation Notice*
Due to the very cold temperatures forecasted for Saturday, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this event. All registered work party participants will receive an email with more information. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. The safety and well-being of our community volunteers and staff are of upmost importance.
We hope you will join us and several other organizations for a free community celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 15 at Sehome High School. Everyone is invited to this day of service, gratitude, and community. Starting with a free breakfast at 10 a.m., the event features an intergenerational discussion of “Hope in Action” by local community leaders Isabella McFrazier and Brian Young. From noon to 2 p.m., participate in one of many community service projects. Find more details on the WWU event page.
In the spirit of serving others, you can make donations to Lydia Place, a local organization helping homeless families in Whatcom County who was planning to accept donations at our event. Their highest needs currently are regular-sized bottles of dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and baby wipes.
You can also sign up for one of our future work parties on a warmer weekend. Our full schedule is listed on VolunteerBellingham.org. Thank you for your interest in volunteering!
