Our volunteers came ready to rock & roll this past Saturday at our Community Work Party at Rock Hill Park.
Join us next Saturday, May 18th, as we clean up Memorial Park just in time for Memorial Day Weekend. You can register for this work party at volunteerbellingham.org.
During our work party at Rock Hill Park, 38 awesome volunteers beautified the butterfly garden by:
• Removing 7 yds3 of invasive weeds such as Bindweed, Poison Hemlock, Himalayan Blackberry, and Italian Arum
• Picking up 1 yrd3 of trash
• Spreading and filling 6 yrds3 of mulch in the garden and nearby hillside
• Giving the royal treatment to the Milkweed that occupies the garden, which is the only host plant that Monarch Butterflies lay their eggs on! 🦋 🌞
We were joined on this wonderful sunny Saturday by the York Neighborhood Association. We want to extend our gratitude to them for keeping Rock Hill Park looking like a rock-solid place to enjoy your day!
If you didn`t make it to the work party but have visited Rock Hill Park or live in the York Neighborhood, know that there are future plans to expand and improve the playground at this park. If you want more information or have comments on what the future playground should look like, please email our Landscape Architect (Jonathan) at parks@cob.org.
This and all our work parties are funded by the Greenways Levy. 🌲
