BNT Logo

Bellingham Neighbors Together (BNT) is a citizen organization of volunteers in partnership with the Bellingham Police Department. The group is committed to a visible public presence to reduce crime, educate residents, and promote safe neighborhoods.

Goals

  • Deter crime through recognizing suspicious activity
  • Provide residents crime prevention guidelines for their homes and neighborhoods.
  • Promote BNT as a viable community resource

Volunteering

BNT volunteers will assist the police department by providing a visible presence to our citizens, reducing and deterring criminal acts, and educating residents on how to improve safety in their neighborhoods.  Volunteers will patrol targeted areas in the city with a partner and a police radio.  Patrols may be conducted in vehicles, on foot, or on bicycles.  Accepted volunteers will complete a comprehensive training program developed by the Department prior to beginning patrols.  The Department seeks a minimum commitment of four volunteer hours per month by active members of the program.

Bellingham residents over age twenty-one are encouraged to apply and become part of this collaborative effort.  Please take the time to consider getting involved with this opportunity, and feel free to forward this information to friends and acquaintances you feel might be a good fit for Bellingham Neighbors Together.
