Administration of the City

​Provide overall City leadership, administration and direction to all City departments, including initiatives promoting efficient, responsive, excellent government services.

Advisory groups

Coordinate appointments and information about various City advisory groups and lead those hosted by Mayor’s Office.

City budget

Submit a proposed budget to City Council each year and lead initiatives to support long-term fiscal stability.

City Council liaison

Coordinate information and decision-making, maintaining an effective working relationship with the Bellingham City Council.

Climate Office

Mayor’s Climate Office oversees City Climate Action Plan and related actions City-wide.

Communications and community relations

Oversees City-wide news, communications, community relations and civic engagement.

Economic development

Support a vibrant downtown and expand economic opportunities City-wide.

Government relations

Establish and maintain relations with local, state, federal and tribal officials and agencies.

Housing

Oversee decision-making for City policies and procedures and foster relationships with local agencies to address housing issues and support unhoused community members.

Neighborhoods    

Provides resources and liaison for neighborhood leaders and leads Mayor’s Neighborhood Advisory Commission.

Strategic initiatives for equity and belonging

Build strategic capacity and lead City-wide workplans for equity and belonging initiatives, emphasizing community safety and wellbeing.

Strategic initiatives for health and human services

Build strategic capacity and lead City-wide workplans for health and human services partnerships and initiatives.

Waterfront redevelopment 

Oversee waterfront redevelopment partnership with the Port of Bellingham and coordinate waterfront redevelopment work City-wide.
